Mrs Yong was my Economics Tutor throughout my 2 years in JC. Her teaching style is highly structured and and she does a fantastic job of breaking down complicated concepts that greatly aided my understanding, especially in more difficult topics like Firms. On top of that, during my time as a student, she dutifully answered me and my friends’ queries, even outside of lesson time, arranged consults to clarify challenging essay questions and always helped to mark our practice papers. Mrs Yong is also an extremely engaging teacher. Mrs Yong is a teacher who has the ability to spread her love for Economics to her students. She caters her teaching methods to her students and goes out of her way to help those who may be lacking behind by offering consultations and marking essays done outside of class (with specific comments stating how a student can improve). Through her lessons, a subject that once used to be foreign and difficult to comprehend became a joy to study. In the classroom, alongside placing emphasis on students’ learning and grasp of economic concepts and theories, Mrs Yong also brings in current affairs and exposes us to real-world applications of what we are learning, furthering our understanding and appreciation of the subject. Besides that, her candid and convivial nature ensured that the class had fun and stayed engaged even when lessons were scheduled late in the day. Ultimately, with Mrs Yong’s guidance, I attained an A for H2 Economics during my A levels. She is undoubtedly one of the most sincere, passionate and dedicated teacher I’ve ever had the pleasure of being taught by.

Her lessons are engaging and captivating, and I always awed at how she managed to weave tough lecture contents into clear and simple points for us to understand. Her feedbacks on our assignments are pertinent and thorough, which have aided me tremendously when I struggled to grapple with the subject. Her care and concern for each of her student is remarkable, and perhaps it is this passion for teaching which have in turn forged in me a strong love for Economics.
